KYUDO

Kyudo is Zen Archery, and I started practicing it in May of 2000. It's a highly ritualized approach to the samurai warrior's art, comparable to the Japanese Tea Ceremony (Chado) except that we have bows (yumis) and arrows (yas) and a target (makiwara or mato). It's said that when we shoot, the real target is our own hearts. It requires one to be present in the moment, and is therefore thought of as meditation in action.
